Keilor is located 17 km north-west of the CBD. Keilor is an affluent residential suburb in Melbourne's west. It experienced significant growth during the 1970s and early 1980s. The Maribyrnong River bounds the east of the suburb while the Calder Freeway disects the suburb. The area has a large proportion of high income households. The suburb also features the Keilor Recreational Reserve Horseshoe Bend Farm and the Keilor Retirement Village.
