Lalor is located 17 km north of the CBD. Bounded by the Merri Creek in the west and the Darebin Creek in the east Lalor is a residential and industrial suburb. The largest ethnic groups are from the countries of the fromer Yugoslavia Greece and Italy. Its labour force is concentrated in the manufacturing sector (33%) while a significant portion are employed in the wholesale and retail trade sector. The area also features significant commercial areas centred around the Lalor railway station.
